The Prince of Wales will represent the COP30 climate summit in South America next month, according to the royal household.

Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a event preceding the climate summit, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

The King and Prince were present at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the British authorities.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

The King has been a long-time champion of protecting nature - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be held in Brazil preceding the climate conference.

Palace insiders have characterized the Prince's participation at the upcoming climate summit as stepping up an important role in "global climate discussions".

Recent Engagements

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the official car, were welcomed participants featuring environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, foreign representatives and government officials.

This involvement involved presentations alongside President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco in recent months.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The climate conference will dovetail with the William's personal sustainability recognition program, which will finish in the Brazilian city the day before he participates in the climate conference on the sixth of November.

Recently the prince referred to the Earthshot finalists as "contemporary champions".

Royal Climate Legacy

The monarch has been a prominent presence at previous climate summits, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for COP28, including the statement: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"For decades I've committed a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the critical dangers challenging our world over planetary heating, climate change and biodiversity loss," the monarch informed participants.
