One 14-year-old boy was found dead just days after being falsely blamed of stealing the cremated remains of a dead infant during a break-in, an inquest has learned.

Tragic Finding

Kai Lloyd's mother and father found his body in his bedroom at his Flintshire residence on 19 November 2021.

False Allegations Begin

The investigation heard how his mother got a message on 8 November 2021 via social media, from a individual asking if her son was her child. The communication added: "Inform him appreciation for breaking into my flat."

In a testimony presented to the court, Lisa Lloyd said the woman had been in the news, claiming her infant's remains had been taken in a burglary - a allegation which was false.

Law Enforcement Inquiry

An investigation report from police later determined the supposed break-in victim had "provided false information" and "it now appears that said items was not taken in the first place".

Media reports about the alleged taken remains attracted online responses, and although the teenager was not named in the messages, his parent said individuals "understood it was him".

The "social media content were really upsetting", she said.

Emotional Health Effect

She explained that her son had been identified with mild ADHD, and as part of that disorder, other peoples' views really mattered to him.

"It would have hurt him deeply," she commented, "especially when this was not true".

The teenager was detained at his residence, but no evidence was found. He was transported to a law enforcement facility and later freed pending further inquiry.

Police said they would be in touch, the hearing learned, but had failed to contacted the relatives by the moment of his death.

Isolation and Worry

His parent said her son "withdrew into himself" after the detention and "would keep asking me whether I had heard anything from the authorities", because his condition meant sometimes "a minute could seem like days".

When she talked to him about the alleged incident, she said her son told her he had gone into the residence because the woman who resided there had said he could use the bathroom anytime he wanted, but refuted removing anything.

Digital Bullying

In a joint statement between her and her spouse, the mother said her child was being bullied digitally after the accusations.

The proceedings heard that one 19-year-old encouraged Kai to kill himself.

She had no worries on the evening before he passed away, explaining how she had heard him "chuckling and joking".

She portrayed him as a "compassionate, affectionate" boy, and said her "family is completely devastated".

He had been "clearly concealing his concerns", she said, noting that he could not bear to have anyone "have negative thoughts of him".

Educational Response

The inquest received testimony from educational personnel at Connah's Quay secondary school.

On November 8th, she "heard some boys discussing that the student had been arrested and that was the initial I heard".

"He informed me... he'd done nothing wrong," she added.

After the discussion, the educator said she called the family's family telephone and left a voicemail saying she had spoken to Kai about the accusations.

The court heard his parents said they never receive that communication.

Formal Conclusion

Senior coroner told the hearing he would await reports regarding what improvements had been made to dealing with individuals with ADHD, before deciding whether he should make a prevention of future fatalities report.

Delivering a narrative conclusion, he said: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsubstantiated allegations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a 14-year-old child.

"Probably falsehoods were afterwards embellished and amplified through the platform of online networks.

"On November 11th, he was interviewed by the police and after his interview he was freed while investigations proceeded."

The coroner concluded: "Exists no proof that the actions or omissions of any agency led to or added to his death and although it was the result of a personal action it is impossible to determine his intent."
